What this template helps explain

The example flow table below treats all figures as fictional thousands of dollars: Revenue -> Costs: 550, Revenue -> Operating profit: 450, Operating profit -> Tax: 90, and Operating profit -> Net income: 360. Costs plus operating profit equal revenue, and tax plus net income equal operating profit. Map line items to your own accounting definitions before using a chart in a report.

Revenue -> Costs: 550
Revenue -> Operating profit: 450
Operating profit -> Tax: 90
Operating profit -> Net income: 360

Check the reporting basis

Use one reporting period and currency, and define which costs are included. Check that revenue equals costs plus operating profit (1,000 = 550 + 450), and that operating profit equals tax plus net income (450 = 90 + 360). The figures here are fictional thousands of dollars.
